Inspiration
We knew we wanted to make a game, and brainstormed random job ideas for a basis to work on - one of the ideas was firefighting, and we quickly came up with a few good game ideas to do with it.
What it does
It's a game about saving people from fires for money, and you can choose to prioritize richer people to earn more cash.
How I built it
We designed the textures using Aseprite, and used the godot engine to run the game.
Challenges I ran into
With the short time frame, it was a struggle to fit in all of the ideas we wanted, for example we would've added a larger variety of sprites and animations.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The particle effects for the fire look great, and the animations that we did get came out really well.
What I learned
We learned that time management is a very important skill, and if you cant figure out how to do something quickly then you should try and work around instead. Also, one of our members hadn't done much programming before, so he had to learn a lot about conventional ways of writing programs and working in a team to make multiple pieces of code that synergize.
What's next for Freelance Firefighter
We want to add lots more features, for example a hose to slowly put out fires, and also optional side goals of stealing gold/money
