Inspiration
We understand that miscommunication and non-communication not only hurts a business, but also leaves individual employees frustrated and unfulfilled in their jobs and in their work. As a team we were excited to help a company help their employees experience greater productivity and fulfillment by solving an immediate business challenge in need of a creative, simple solution.
What it does
FreeFlow is meant to integrate with Leonardo, accessing user profile data from employees to accomplish two main goals: Firstly, to produce a central, easily accessible directory of employee contacts that's currently divided between incompatible systems and platforms. FreeFlow also empowers employee engagement by connecting the dots between professional interest and personal interest, bridging the gaps of geographical and cultural divides.
How we built it
On our front end, we designed what will become a User profile form within Leonardo using Bootstrap and jQuery. Our backend utilizes Flask to read data from submitted forms and then persists that data. The connections between employees is then visualized
Challenges we ran into
Pinpointing the most pressing communication issues within EssilorLuxottica. Our initial understanding of the challenge statement lead to a product idea that did not address those greatest needs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our persistence in information gathering, clarifying our mission, and ensuring that we resolved the largest contributing factors that have the highest impact on EssilorLuxottica's overarching goals
What we learned
This is all our first hackathon, so we were able to learn more about collaboration on a practical level, communicating and building on each other's ideas in the short time allotted to us for the competition.
What's next for FreeFlow
FreeFlow is just a stepping stone in the process of unified systems integration for EssilorLuxottica. However, it could the catalyst for their own proprietary employee information management system.
