Inspiration

We've been seeing quite a few website redesign posts on social media with a video of the page scrolling down. When asking around this seemed like a surprisingly painful video to create as it requires someone manually screen recording their scrolls, trying to do so smoothly and simultaneously hiding their cursor.

What it does

Creates smooth, scrolling screen captures of any webpage, with no app or extension needed. Perfect for showcasing your latest update, blog post, rebrand, or new client, and ready to share on websites, social media, or newsletters.

How I built it

It's a simple NextJs app that calls a Lambda function running Puppeteer. Video is then generated using Remotion.

Challenges I ran into

It was tricky to ensure all elements are rendered on a page before you start recording the scrolling video. Animation-heavy websites make this tricky.
