Freakpiano – Project Story
Inspiration
About three weeks ago, I was struggling to find good work opportunities. To make use of my skills, especially in UI/UX design, I decided to create a Canva website template for Jacob Blank and planned to offer it to him for free. Unfortunately, he didn’t respond.
I also reached out to Zach Yadagari and Toby Brown to show them my designs, hoping for feedback or Job offering. During this time, I even considered selling my prized possessions because of the difficult economic situation in my country.
When none of them replied, I felt frustrated by the disrespect, the lack of responses, and the direct ghosting. This experience inspired me to design an app that could help counter these problems. I also wanted to include matchmaking features to connect people based on what they’re looking for so they can fulfill their purpose.
What it does
Freakpiano is a web app designed to fight online ghosting and non-responses. It matches people who have similar interests and goals, creating meaningful connections. The app encourages timely replies and helps users engage in conversations that matter. Key Features include 5-hour timer: Users must reply to messages within 5 hours.
Percentage deductions: Failing to reply on time results in a deduction of 10% from the user’s reputation score.
Approval ratings: Users rate conversations as positive or negative, contributing to an overall approval rating visible on profiles.
Match ratings: After interactions, users can rate how well they connected with their match, providing feedback to improve future pairings.
Match Zone: A special area in the app where users can browse profiles filtered by compatibility scores, interests, and purpose, helping them find the best possible connections.
How we built it
I started designing the app as a responsive web interface, applying my skills in UI/UX design. The goal was to make it visually appealing, user-friendly, and accessible. Initially, I focused on creating high-fidelity prototypes and mockups using design tools like Canva and Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Facing discouragement from getting no replies from people I admired.
Balancing design creativity with practical user experience.
Working on a project during a time of personal financial hardship.
I’m participating in the One‑Shot Challenge, and I really love how fast Bolt lets me build an entire app in a single prompt. It’s a great experience overall!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Transforming a negative experience into a productive, innovative project.
Creating a concept for an app that solves real-life social communication problems.
Building strong UI/UX design skills and confidence.
What we learned
Even negative experiences can inspire meaningful solutions.
Many people struggle with ghosting and non-responses online.
Consistency and resilience are key, even when facing economic or personal challenges.
