Inspiration
I wanted to make something that is a little practical but also channeling brainrot. So, I made a weather website that looks pretty cool but the highlights is the vibe it gives off. This is also my first ever hackathon so I wanted to pick topics I could learn from (which I definitely did- bruh I was tweaking so bad)
What it does
The site essentially shows a 5 day FREAKCAST (forecast for the normies 🤫🧏🏻♂️) to help you decide if you should go out or not. There's also the chill guy, who gives you some advice depending on the weather.
Tracks
Also here are my tracks: 🌞 (IJAG) I’m Just A Girl ($100 for two teams) (2) -> this is my first hackathon EVER and I'm very much just a girl (#womenInSTEM) 🌞 i laughed. (new hackers prize) (10 winning teams) (10) -> my first hackathon is a brainrot hackathon, like this is legit my first one rip 🌞 most iq points lost ($5) -> ermmmm the practicality is out the window
How I built it
I used Typescript, Tailwind css, and React to make this! Which ultimately made this way harder for myself because this was the first time I used Tailwind. I don't know why, but converting from regular CSS to Tailwind made me lose braincells. I had to play around with it so much. This was also the first time using any type of API so figuring out how to like work with it hurt my brain.
Challenges I ran into
I pretty much explained in the above, but as a first time hacker EVER, I was struggling so bad. This was not my first project, but this was the first time I had so little time to make something with zero help (I had to restart my idea on Thursday😫😫😫)
Accomplishments I'm proud of
I'm very happy with the little time I had, especially cuz I did it by myself from start to end. Now I know I can actually do stuff!!!!!! (I had no faith in myself as a coder rip)
What I learned
I learned SOOOO much about myself ngl. Like who knew I could actually code enough to make a project:)
What's next for FREAKMOMETER
Make things more interactive and dynamic!
