FraudChain — 2025 Bitcoin Hackathon Submission
🚀 Elevator Pitch
FraudChain is a global scam reporting platform aimed at protecting users from cryptocurrency and digital fraud. It enables anyone to report, verify, and learn about scams across borders — empowering safer online financial activity.
💡 Inspiration
Fraud is a growing problem in both crypto and traditional systems. As someone living in Ghana where mobile money scams are common, I wanted to build a tool that could scale internationally and help users anywhere detect, report, and avoid fraud. That led to FraudChain — originally focused on MoMo but now expanding to on-chain and global use cases.
🧠 What I Learned
- How to structure and build responsive, multi-page websites using Tailwind CSS.
- Hands-on practice with deploying modern web apps using Netlify.
- Setup and usage of Firebase Firestore for database integration (backend still in progress).
- Markdown writing, GitHub project publishing, and hackathon project organization.
- Managing a full project solo using only a mobile device — design, coding, debugging, and deployment.
🛠️ How It Was Built
- Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Frameworks: Tailwind CSS (for UI styling)
- Platforms: Netlify (for hosting), GitHub (for version control)
- Cloud Services: Firebase (Firestore planned)
- Tools: Termux, Acode Editor (on mobile)
- Design Style: Classy, dark-mode UI with mobile responsiveness
🧩 Challenges Faced
- Working entirely from a mobile phone without a laptop made traditional development workflows more difficult.
- Firebase integration from mobile required terminal hacks and careful setup using Termux.
- Had to manually manage responsiveness and UI breakpoints to ensure cross-device compatibility.
- Balancing feature scope with time, as backend features had to be postponed for frontend delivery.
🔮 Future Plans
- Complete Firebase backend integration for real-time scam data submission and verification.
- Add blockchain address validation and scam detection via on-chain data.
- Launch community features and global support sections.
- Partner with local and international fraud watch agencies.
