Our project has been created keeping in mind the problem of poor food management in our day to day lives and the huge impact it has cause in our environment. We have all seen our parents fuss when in figuring out how much stuff we have in the fridge and what all is needed. There are times when we run out of the basic things and later get frustrated because we forgot to restock them. Another huge problem being that a lot of food gets thrown out simply because we are unable to keep up with the expiry dates of all our food. We hope that through our project, we can aim for a future with better food management and less wastage.

What it does

Our project aims to solve these problems by keeping track of everything that the fridge contains and adding/deleting items as and when they are added/used. One amazing feature is that it also keeps check of the expiry dates of the contents to avoid food wastage. It also makes a grocery list according to what items you don't have and also provides recipes based on the ingredients you have

How we built it

The app for our project was built using flutter. We used tensorflow lite with open cv libraries on a raspberry pi 4 connected to a camera. Our model is able to detect various household food items such as apples ,carrots, oranges etc. Firebase was used for the backend

Challenges we ran into

This was the first time that any of us worked with AI so we faced a couple of challenges pertaining to that. 3D printing also gave us a lot of problems

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we were able to work with AI so well and complete the hardware and software in time.

What we learned

We learnt how to use Tensor Flow Lite models and how integrate it with raspberry pi and how to build production level builds using a 3D printer.

What's next for Frappe

We hope that Frappe can take the world to a future with better food management and minimal food wastage.
