Framed - Your Personal Art Guide

I love going to art museums and learning about art. Having a great guide can transform your museum visit experience. Learning the story behind an artwork makes the experience so much richer.

But not all museums have great audio guides, or they don’t explain every artwork, or they don’t tailor to what you’re interested in.

Sometimes it’s just about the raw experience of viewing art. Have you ever taken your phone out to snap a picture of an artwork? Have you ever looked back at that picture? What if you could start building a public collection of your favorite artworks you’ve seen?

Framed is a personal art guide in your pocket.

  1. Take a picture of any artwork (or upload for when you’re not at a museum)
  2. Learn about the artwork, backstory, and artist context
  3. Build your collection of favorite artworks

Art has the power to transform the way we see the world and ourselves. Art exposes us to new perspectives, ideas, and values. Whether at home, on the go, or at a museum, Framed helps you learn how to appreciate art.

Start your art collection with Framed.

Framed's audio guide supports several languages: English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Japanese.

About the Project

Built with SwiftUI, RevenueCat, OneSignal, Claude Sonnet 3.5, OpenAI Whisper, and a good amount of prompt engineering.

Fun finding - my unscientific analysis showed that Claude Sonnet 3.5 has ~70% identification accuracy on common famous artworks, while GPT4o was at ~50%, and Gemini and Llama were even worse (or my prompt engineering was really bad).
