About the Project

Market Research and Problem Validation

Managing personal finances is still a highly manual process. While many tools exist to provide insights into spending (e.g., Mint, YNAB, Rocket Money), few allow users to take action automatically. We identified a gap: people don't just want to track their money — they want to automate it.

For example, saving $50 every Friday or moving money after receiving a paycheck requires constant discipline and context-switching. This inefficiency creates financial stress and missed opportunities. By combining automation with real-time transaction data, we validate a clear market need for hands-free personal finance.

Business Model and Feasibility

We built a working prototype that allows users to:

Connect bank accounts securely using the Plaid API.

Sync transaction data into a Supabase database.

Set automation rules (e.g., notifications or transfers) triggered by spending behavior, balances, or schedules.

Business model:

Freemium tier: Basic notifications and automations.

Paid subscription: Advanced rule-building, multi-account logic, analytics, and transfer capabilities.

B2B Licensing: Potential to license automation infrastructure to banks and financial tools.

Feasibility:

Transactions and account syncing are already live.

Transfers are in development (pending integration with VoPay or Stripe Treasury).

LLM-based parsing of natural language into executable rule logic is functional and iteratively improving.

Innovation and Differentiation

What makes our platform different:

🔧 Action-first finance: Go beyond dashboards—actually automate behavior.

🧠 Natural language parsing: Use an LLM to convert instructions into structured JSON automations.

🧩 Drag-and-drop rule builder: For visual creation of complex logic.

🏦 Cross-account flexibility: Works across banks—unlike tools tied to a single institution.

⚙️ Custom logic: Triggers based on time, balances, and transaction categories.

While others focus on reporting, we focus on automating behavior to reduce cognitive load and improve financial outcomes.

Presentation and Communication

Tech Stack:

Frontend: React + Tailwind for fast, responsive UX.

Backend: Next.js API routes for Plaid token exchange and data syncing.

Database: Supabase for secure, real-time storage of users, rules, and transactions.

LLM Integration: Natural language is parsed into automation logic.

Job Scheduler: Cron jobs run hourly to evaluate conditions and trigger actions.

Demo Focus: We will showcase how a user can:

Connect an account.

Create a rule using natural language.

Watch the system parse, save, and trigger that rule on real transaction data.
