Inspiration

I am a pharmacist with more than 20 years of frontline experience. Every day, I see the same gap: a person leaves the pharmacy with a product and a few minutes of professional advice, but their real experience begins later, at home.

That is when questions appear, instructions may be forgotten, progress is difficult to communicate, and the connection with the pharmacist becomes fragmented. I created FOXFOLLOWUP to close this gap.

Its core principle is simple: first the human, then the sale. Better service builds trust; retention and the next appropriate purchase follow naturally as a result of genuine care.

What it does

FOXFOLLOWUP is a human-first after-sales care experience connecting a person with their trusted pharmacy after leaving the counter.

On the person’s side, the working demo includes:

  • A simple pharmacy-guided care plan
  • Direct chat with photo, camera and voice options
  • One-tap progress reactions requiring minimal effort
  • A color-coded timeline that turns interactions into structured care events
  • Appointment and check-in requests
  • Product requests connected to professional advice

On the pharmacy side, it includes:

  • A dashboard that prioritizes people who need attention
  • Active follow-up management
  • A consent-aware patient record
  • Private pharmacist notes
  • A protocol-library concept for future development

The goal is continuity: guidance, reassurance, better adherence and an informed return to the same pharmacy when appropriate.

How we built it

The project was built during OpenAI Build Week through an iterative collaboration with Codex and GPT-5.6.

I contributed the pharmacy experience, real-world workflow, product vision, safety principles and continuous feedback. Codex helped translate these requirements into information architecture, interface flows, visual prototypes, working interactions and a hosted demonstration.

Figma was used to design and refine the patient and pharmacy experiences. The working web demonstration was built with Next.js, React and TypeScript and published with Sites.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was turning a complex healthcare relationship into an experience that requires very little mental effort from both the person and the pharmacist.

We had to make chat, photos, voice, reactions, timelines and care plans feel like one continuous workflow rather than separate features.

We also had to clearly separate professional guidance from medical diagnosis and preserve consent, privacy and pharmacist-only notes.

  • A working, clickable two-sided experience for both people and pharmacies
  • A low-effort interaction model designed for everyday use
  • A meaningful color system in which colors represent specific actions
  • A timeline that transforms communication into structured care events
  • Clear separation between person-facing information and private pharmacist notes
  • A scalable concept grounded in more than 20 years of real pharmacy experience

What we learned

We learned that useful innovation does not always require adding complexity. The strongest design decisions reduced cognitive effort and kept the human relationship at the center.

AI is most valuable here when it organizes information and supports continuity without replacing professional judgment.

What's next for FOXFOLLOWUP

The next development stages include:

  • OpenAI-assisted conversation summaries for pharmacist review
  • A pharmacy-approved protocol and knowledge bot
  • Voice-first professional notes and responses
  • Greek and English language support
  • Multi-pharmacy deployment
  • Medication-adherence and home-care protocols with stricter governance
  • Optional pharmacy ERP, e-shop and primary-care connectivity

The pharmacist remains the responsible decision-maker. AI assists with organization, summarization and retrieval—it does not replace professional judgment.

FOXFOLLOWUP begins where the transaction ends: the pharmacist’s care does not stay behind the counter; it goes home with the person.
