Four Seasons

Inspiration for the project comes from the future success of AR, as well as UX and a passion to create the best experiences for players.

Goals

  1. For this mini project, I wanted to create a couple of interactable elements such as the placement of found treasure (ground placement), opening the treasure through touch and animation in AR, then the disappearance of the treasure. The treasure and functionality would give users multiple forms of feedback.
  2. I wanted to use a flat image target for a game profile card (similar to ID), where upon viewing the ID card in AR, the player would receive their daily login reward. They would know their daily login has been registered through the glowing effects of their ID card.

Challenges

I found it difficult to: understand 8th wall in terms of html code, it was hard for me to link together image targets and tap place projects together. On top of this, I wanted to add extra functionality onto models and images too, such as being able to make items disappear on touch. There were a lot of things that I'd never tried before, including software, so understanding a bit of this in order to get things working was a challenge.

Something I am proud of is my effort to understand 8th wall. I also managed to convert a couple fbs files to glb files, then place them into the project, whilst adjusting the rotation so that the player can place the chest right in front of them.

Rather than learning, the idea of "learning a new software is challenging", was reinforced, but it was fun watching tutorials and trying to understand 8th wall and html.

What's next for Four seasons

I'm not sure how long the free trial lasts but I would like to work on this project longer to try and add more functionality, which was hard to do under the time constraints given.

I would like to, in the future, implement my own 3D assets and animations furthermore, where the player can drag objects closer to them (such as the chest to see the rewards they have gained). The aim of the project is to encourage communities to get together, whilst leading a healthy lifestyle but still creating unique experiences for players to immerse themselves in.
