FounderDNA is an evidence-first AI platform that helps people turn lived experience and hidden capabilities into real entrepreneurial opportunities. Instead of matching people to jobs based only on résumés, FounderDNA identifies founder signals, generates testable venture opportunities, and matches users with complementary co-founders based on what they can actually contribute. It then guides teams through a focused validation sprint and builds a proof trail from evidence rather than assumptions.

Inspiration

Millions of capable people are overlooked because their potential is not fully represented by a résumé, degree, job title, or conventional career path.

We wanted to build something that asks a fundamentally different question: What could this person build if their real capabilities were understood?

The inspiration behind FounderDNA came from the belief that unemployment and underemployment should not only be solved by finding people existing jobs. We can also help people discover opportunities where they can become founders, creators, and job creators themselves.

That led us to design a system that connects three things: who you are, what you could build, and who you need beside you to build it.

What it does

FounderDNA takes users through an evidence-first founder discovery workflow.

First, users complete structured operating scenarios that reveal founder signals across multiple dimensions. The platform then uses those signals, skills, experiences, and interests to identify potential venture opportunities.

Users can explore opportunity hypotheses, validate one through a focused seven-day evidence sprint, and make a human decision to continue, pivot, or stop.

FounderDNA also provides complementary co-founder matching. Rather than simply matching people with similar interests, it looks for complementary capabilities, helping users discover the operator, technical builder, domain expert, or other capability they may be missing.

The platform also includes an evidence and proof layer where customer interactions, commitments, outcomes, revenue, expenses, and AI runs can be recorded and distinguished from unverified claims.

How we built it

FounderDNA was built as a full-stack web and PWA experience using React and TypeScript, with a production-oriented backend architecture.

We use Supabase Authentication and PostgreSQL with Row-Level Security for identity, persistence, evidence records, profiles, matching data, conversations, and user-scoped access.

AI-assisted founder operations are implemented through Gemini / Vertex AI, with server-side execution, schema validation, run metadata, rate controls, and human checkpoints.

The application is deployed with Vercel, while Capacitor provides the foundation for the Android experience.

A major design principle throughout the system was evidence integrity. AI-generated hypotheses are not presented as facts, demo data is explicitly distinguished from real evidence, and consequential actions remain human-approved.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was avoiding the temptation to build another generic AI chatbot or personality test.

Founder potential is complex, and simply asking users questions and generating an impressive AI report does not create real-world value. We therefore had to design a system where AI outputs lead to testable hypotheses and measurable actions.

Another challenge was building trustworthy matching. Finding people with similar interests is relatively easy. Finding people whose capabilities genuinely complement each other, while respecting privacy, consent, and trust, is much harder.

We also had to think carefully about evidence. A platform focused on entrepreneurship can easily become a place where users report impressive but unverified traction. FounderDNA instead treats evidence as a first-class product primitive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that FounderDNA evolved beyond an idea into a working founder operating system with an integrated workflow covering assessment, opportunity discovery, validation, co-founder matching, communication, and evidence tracking.

We built a responsive web experience, installable PWA architecture, Android foundation, authenticated user workspace, database-backed matching infrastructure, AI-assisted founder operations, and an evidence ledger.

Most importantly, we are proud of the product philosophy behind it:

FounderDNA does not manufacture traction. It helps users create and verify it.

We believe that distinction can make the platform substantially more trustworthy than systems that simply generate optimistic AI startup ideas.

What we learned

We learned that the hardest part of AI entrepreneurship isn't generating ideas. AI can generate thousands of ideas instantly.

The harder problem is determining which idea is worth testing, what evidence would validate it, which capabilities are missing, and when a founder should continue, pivot, or stop.

We also learned that AI works best in FounderDNA as an augmentation layer rather than an autonomous decision-maker. The system can analyze, suggest, structure, and accelerate, but important entrepreneurial decisions should remain with humans.

Most importantly, we learned that potential becomes meaningful when it is connected to evidence and action.

What's next for FounderDNA

The next stage is to turn FounderDNA from a founder discovery platform into a broader venture creation and job creation infrastructure.

We want to expand the founder signal model, improve complementary team formation, strengthen evidence-based opportunity validation, and develop richer AI founder operations.

We also want to work with universities, workforce organizations, accelerators, NGOs, and entrepreneurship programs to test whether FounderDNA can help people who are traditionally overlooked discover viable ventures and form stronger founding teams.

Long term, our vision is ambitious:

Instead of only helping people find jobs, FounderDNA should help more people discover what they can build, find the people they need, validate their ideas, and ultimately create opportunities for themselves and others.
