Inspiration

It started at home: my husband is a solo founder.
Every morning, he faced a browser packed with tabs, half-built features, and a creeping guilt that he’d never meet his potential. As a project manager, I knew structure changes everything, yet our personal attempts at accountability felt too close - and too emotional - to stick.

Talking with 47 solo founders on Reddit confirmed the pattern:

  • “Ideas pile up faster than I can ship.”
  • “I’m alone—there’s no sparring partner, no plan.”
  • “I feel like I’m failing, not lazy.”

So we built Founder Focus: a human-plus-AI clarity service that slides seamlessly into a founder’s routine and turns overwhelm into focused execution.

What It Does

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Two-hour constraint – forced ruthless feature triage
  • Voice-note latency – solved by batching Claude calls in parallel
  • Design minimalism – stripping the dashboard to exactly three tasks, no extras
  • Human warmth vs. AI speed – tone guardrails so summaries feel personal, not robotic

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of

  • Live demo: tick a task → gradient dot fills → mascot scoots forward → judges smiled
  • 9 beta founders signed up during the hack; 5 already committed to pay post-trial
  • Entire paywall-to-dashboard loop built and deployed in 120 minutes
  • Zero onboarding friction - first-run setup takes < 5 min

What We Learned

  • Solo founders pay for emotional relief, not feature lists

  • Limiting to 3 daily tasks is a super-power, not a constraint
