Inspiration

Our inspirations were Google Maps and the impractical theme area. We wanted to make a map site with the functionality completely flipped on its head.

What it does

Our web page displays a map with the most inefficient route. We also have a chatbot example that tells the user the most inefficient way to get to their destination and changes languages with each sentence.

How we built it

For the chatbot, we used LangServe Playground and followed the steps from the LangServe workshop to build an AI that would give us the functionality our website needed. For the website, we used the design tool known as Figma.

Challenges we ran into

We are all freshmen with beginner-level coding knowledge. We tried to mess with Gemini and Google Maps API, but we were underqualified and ended up more confused than before. As a result, we had to pivot to focusing on design over coding and machine learning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the layout of our website. We did it all by hand with functional buttons and no AI. Furthermore, we also drew our cute mascot and did not use AI to generate it.

What we learned

We learned how to use GitHub and LangChain and some basics on how API keys work. We also learned how to recognize our areas of weakness and adapt.

What's next for Found & Lost

We will want to learn more about API keys so that we can implement them and have a fully functioning map and chatbot.
