ForU Healthcare App

By targeting elderly, ForU is a promising software application to achieve the Health Initiative Smart Nation goal of Singapore.

Inspiration

Target audience: Elderly in Singapore. Healthcare is one of the initiatives in Singapore Smart Nation goals. A rise in the proportion of elderly people in Singapore leads to an increased healthcare demand for an aging population. We found that elderly in Singapore lack awareness of technology in healthcare and lack guidance. To improve the functional health of Singapore elderly and guide them to practice exercise in a convenient way. We propose an app that can solve this problem.

What it does

A elderly-friendly application software product that provides exercises specifically for the elderly along with some features:

  • Provide customized exercises for elderly
  • Give instructions and real-time feedback

How we built it

We utilized VNHumanBodyPoseObservation and GameplayKit, which are powered by Apple, to track users’ joints. Based on the movement of joints, we can build a highly accurate exercise-monitoring system which includes real-time guidance and feedback.

Challenges we ran into

Lacks of users data lead to the difficulty in training the AI model.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our product not only works well but also adds a few useful features for users such as:

  • Voice assistance for the elderly
  • Manual log in or Face ID
  • Real-time instruction
  • Provide result summary

What we learned

Within 48-limit hours we have learnt many things. Firstly, choosing a problem to target was a difficult time for us. We faced lots of issues, lots of bugs that we have to solve. The experience has given us such a great memory where everyone is always 100% focused on their project. Teamwork and problem-solving are the two most important skills we have gained through this fruitful experience.

What's next for ForU Healthcare App

We hope to optimize our app by adding more features and exercise to the health care app, collecting more users’ data and integrating AI models of health data analysis (that we have trained) to provide a better experience for users.
