Inspiration

The idea for Fortune Cookie 3.0 came from a simple thought — people scroll endlessly every day but rarely smile while doing it. We wanted to recreate the joy of opening a real fortune cookie, but powered by AI: small surprises that make people laugh, reflect, or feel seen.

What it does

Generates short, witty, context-aware fortunes on click.

Lets users choose a theme: love, study, motivation, chaos, etc.

Provides shareable fortunes via text copy or downloadable “fortune card” images.

Adds fun animations (confetti, emoji rain) to make each fortune reveal joyful and interactive.

Encourages small moments of joy, reflection, and humor in daily life.

How we built it

We built a lightweight web app using an AI text-generation model to create short, witty, and context-aware fortunes. The system adapts to themes like love, motivation, study, or chaos, and stays fresh by referencing trending topics. We used modern web tools for a clean, fast, and responsive design that delivers one-click fun.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge was balancing randomness and relevance — making fortunes that are funny, unique, and coherent. We also optimized response speed and fought with layout glitches when fortunes got too long or weird (which was often).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully functional AI-powered fortune generator in a hackathon timeframe.
