This project was, of course, motivated by the theme of jacobsHack 2022. We wanted to come up with ## an idea that excites users even if they were not deeply invested in sustainability. We understand that ## most people have good intentions, and that the issue is usually a lack of money/time. We came up ## with a solution that takes care of both inconvenience and flips them around.
Forrest is an online marketplace where one can outsource planting trees. If you want to plant a tree, ## but do not have the tools or time. You can sponsor one, so that another person that is better ## experienced, or is interested claims it and plants a tree on your behalf. Typically sponsors/ bounties ## cost at least 20% more than the actual cost of planting a seedling. Planter claim that difference as a ## benefit for going through the trouble of planting the tree. Giving people the biggest motivation to
actually go out and plant trees: a monetary one.
We did over 20 hours of constant coding over 4 people. Excited to show the end product
Keeping the motivation to push until we are done and try to fix bugs after 20 hours of work was very ## challenging
