Inspiration
Educators, students, and STEM creators often struggle to insert formulas into designs. I was inspired by this recurring pain point and wanted to make math and chemistry visual, clean, and effortless inside Adobe Express.
What it does
Formula Inserter allows users to search for math or chemical formulas, renders them using KaTeX or PubChem, and generates downloadable images that can be used directly in Adobe Express designs.
How we built it
Built with React, Vite, and KaTeX, the app uses html2canvas for image generation and PubChem’s API for chemical structure rendering. It's hosted on Vercel and built to be iframe-compatible for Adobe Express integration.
Challenges we ran into
Generating high-quality images from LaTeX while preserving clarity. Ensuring fast and intuitive UX despite technical complexity.
What's next for Formula Inserter
Full SDK integration to allow direct insertion into Adobe Express projects UI polishing, dark mode, and formula history Open-sourcing the tool for community contributions Adding more formula types (physics, economics) and a mobile-friendly UI
