Inspiration

Our team was struck by the challenges millions of Canadians face daily when it comes to filling out forms, an unavoidable aspect of life. Through our research, we uncovered the significant lack of options for underrepresented groups, which inspired us to create a tool that addresses this overlooked yet vital part of Canadians' lives.

What it does

FormFlow empowers users of all ages and abilities, including those with mobility challenges, visual and auditory impairments, low literacy levels, and neurodivergence to easily complete government forms. We streamlined the process by prompting users to input their information for various popular IDs and forms, reducing the need to repeatedly enter the same details for each new form. Additionally, we incorporated features such as customizable text size and color, auditory and visual aids, multiple language options, and various text functions.

How we built it

We utilized Figma to design the UX/UI for a mobile app version of FormFlow, enhancing the overall user experience. Next, we implemented speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionalities using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring seamless accessibility for all users.

Challenges we ran into

As first-time hackers, we faced several challenges. We had to quickly learn how to navigate various tools and technologies, including Figma, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Each of these presented its own learning curves, but we embraced the opportunity to grow and adapt throughout the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges we faced, we are extremely proud of our ability to learn quickly and remain resilient through adversity. We are particularly proud of developing a tool that is inclusive of all gender expressions, age groups, and disabilities, ensuring accessibility for everyone.

What we learned

We discovered that, although we didn't start with all the skills needed to build a project as ambitious as FormFlow, we are quick learners who adapted rapidly to our environment. Additionally, we honed our ability to pitch our product in a way that truly reflects our core values.

What's next for FormFlow

FormFlow has exciting potential for expansion, including features like facial recognition and support for additional languages, including First Nations languages. Our goal is to continue broadening accessibility and provide even more options for underrepresented groups to complete forms with ease.
