Our inspiration for this project roots from the stigma of mental health, birth control, and the daily struggles and challenges women deal with. Women get a lot of hate and judgement for being themselves. We wanted to create an app that allows women to feel safe researching and learning about topics that society views as taboo.

What it does

forME allows users to search through databases of mental health medications and birth controls. It also allows for users to track the medication and/or birth control they're taking while notifying themselves of the time and dosage they should be taking it, besides medication and birth control trackers users are allowed to create normal habit trackers. Habit trackers can be used to help improve life style and daily tasks, like water intake, sleep time, etc.

How we built it

We built the forME app using html, css, js, openFDAs API Prototyping and organization was done in figma

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into with the back-end was figuring out how to implement and use the API. None of us have ever worked with APIs or databases and for three of us this was our first hackathon. Challenges we ran into with the front-end consists of finding a way to present our project in a mobile application, we only ever had experience with web applications, so trying to figure out how to work in a different format and present in a way that makes sense for users gave us some difficulties.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some accomplishments we are proud include being able to overcome challenges and opening ourselves to working with languages and programs none of us were familiar with. We were also proud to have been able to work in a collaborative setting, assisting each other, and having equal input on all aspects of the project.

What we learned

We learned how to work in a collaborative setting, building a project from scratch to finish, dividing tasks based on expertise while still being able to bring it all together.

What's next for forME

The future of forME would include creating our own database that only filters for information that users would want/need. The API we used did its job in returning data for medication, however we would have liked to include more and different information.

Some feature we would like to include is a period tracker, as of current forME only provides resources on mental health and birth control, we would like for it to be a space for any concerns women have about their own body.
