we wanted a tool that tells you where you could go, turning the linear prompt-by-prompt AI workflow into a visual branching experience.
What it does
Forkast takes any text input and generates multiple AI-predicted future directions simultaneously, letting users pick a branch, merge ideas from different paths, and watch their concept evolve as a growing visual tree.
How we built it
Built with Vue 3 + Vite on the frontend, an Express.js backend, and the Google Gemini API handling branch generation
Challenges we ran into
Hitting Gemini's free tier quota during testing blocked our entire team mid-build
Accomplishments that we're proud of
built and demoed in under 4 hours.
What we learned
never let two people touch the same file in a hackathon.
