Inspiration

I was inspired by the way food brings people together — across cultures, generations, and borders. From loud kitchens to late-night cravings and secret family recipes, we wanted to create something that honors the emotion, chaos, and connection behind every meal.
Fork & Fam is where food meets culture, storytelling, community, and a little chaos — in the best way possible.

What it does

Fork & Fam is a fun, culture-first food media platform that lets users:

• Listen to chef interviews & family stories via podcast
  
• Share anonymous food confessions
  
• Join or vote in cook-off competitions
  
• Discover local vendors
  
• Participate in future live food events
  It blends entertainment, community, and interactivity — think “Food Network meets social radio.”

How we built it

I used Bolt AI Builder to rapidly design and deploy the web experience. I layered in:

• Custom layout sections for podcast, events, and competitions
  
• Logo and visual assets generated via AI tools
  
• Mobile-friendly design for better accessibility
  
• Netlify for quick hosting
  
• AI copywriting tools for messaging, CTAs, and pitch refinement
  

Challenges we ran into

• Narrowing down the idea scope — we had so many cool directions
  
• Getting a unique, available name (after LunchVerse, ChopTime, etc. were taken!)
  
• Designing with Afrocentric flair while keeping the UI clean and functional
  
• Building strong visual identity with limited time and tool constraints
  

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• I created a fully functional, branded site within the hackathon window
  
• Developed a complete content structure with podcast, vendor, confessions, competitions, and event support
  
• Designed a logo and brand identity that feels authentic, bold, and fun
  
• Used AI tools effectively without losing the human creativity behind the concept
  

What I learned

• People connect with stories more than features
  
• Simplicity + culture = engagement
  
• Branding early helps everything else fall into place
  
• Community-driven ideas work best when users feel seen and heard

What's next for Fork & Fam

• Launch the first official podcast episodes
  
• Enable chef/family competition voting
  
• Roll out a vendor onboarding form
  
• Host a live “Jollof-Off” event in Lagos
  
• Expand our food confession wall
  
• Build a creator hub for chefs, foodies, and vendors
