Inspiration

When I was little, my grandmother was everything. I played with her everyday, morning to night, and some of my best memories were from that time. But suddenly, one day, my grandmother didn't even know who I was. I didn't realize it then but she was suffering from dementia. Worldwide, 56 million people suffer from dementia, growing at a rate of 10 million per year, or one every 3.2 seconds. RememberMe was created to help preserve familiarity, reduce caregiver stress, and support meaningful daily connections.

What it does

RememberMe is an AR-powered memory assistance platform that helps users recognize loved ones and stay oriented in their daily lives. Key features include: AR overlays, real-time facial recognition, Medication reminders, and much more.

How we built it

We built RememberMe as a full stack web application using: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Vercel, and Firebase for Authentication.

Challenges we ran into

We faced several technical and product challenges:

  • Managing authentication using Continue with Google
  • Calibrating facial recognition to the perfect amount (least amount of false positives/negative)
  • Designing a UI that feels calming and intuitive rather than overwhelming
  • Balancing technical capabilities with accessibility for older users

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that RememberMe is not just a concept but a working product

Highlights include:

  • Fully functional user accounts and cloud sync
  • Real-time face recognition with contextual memory support
  • A polished, deployed product with real world impact.

What we learned

Through building RememberMe we learned:

  • Great healthcare technology must balance simplicity and usefulness
  • Real world products require knowing your target audience and their capabilities
  • Small design choices can dramatically improve usability, ie the small things matter

What's next for RememberMe

Our next steps include:

  • Voice assistance for hands-free reminder and memory prompts
  • Family collaboration features
  • AR glasses integration
  • Facial recognition login to allow patients to not need to remember their password
  • Mobile native app versions
  • AI Powered Summaries of each person related to a patient
