Inspiration

We all use Telegram’s "Saved Messages" to stash away useful links, posts, videos, screenshots, files, and random thoughts. But over time, it becomes a black hole—no organization, no topics, no easy way to search, and definitely no way to understand or group the content meaningfully. We built this because we needed a smarter version of "Saved Messages"—something that actually helps us remember and retrieve what matters.

What it does

Forget Me Not is a cross-platform note and memory keeper that supports images, videos, audio, YouTube videos, Instagram Reels, and documents. You can forward anything to it via a Telegram bot or upload media using the web app, and it automatically organizes and summarizes the content.

Forget Me Not intelligently clusters your saved content into topics, making it easy to navigate and revisit related memories.

You can search your notes and media not just by exact keywords, but also by meaning — thanks to AI-powered semantic search.

How we built it

We combined a web app and a Telegram bot. The bot is the gateway—you forward a message, and it handles parsing, classifying, and sending it to our backend. The backend is built using Node.js and uses NLP and computer vision models to generate embeddings and textual summaries. The frontend is built using React and provides a beautiful interface to browse, filter, and explore your saved knowledge—organized by topics and types.

We used Bolt.new for writing the most of our codebase, Netlify functions for Telegram bot and backend data processing. Supabase helped us to keep data in a cloud database and set up user authentication using Google and X (Twitter). We also used Gemini and ChatGPT visual and text models for describing images, video and other media, and text summarization. We build vector embeddings and clusters everything into topics, so you can search not just by exact words, but also by meaning or similar words.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was managing Telegram bot sessions and integrating them with Netlify Functions to ensure smooth, reliable user interactions across platforms.

We also had to constantly shift our mindset from building features to solving real user pains — like helping people find media they barely remember or organize chaotic content effortlessly.

Another challenge was optimizing media processing to be fast and scalable, especially for audio and video files which require transcription or summarization.

Communicating what the product does in a simple, relatable way was harder than expected — especially since the concept spans bookmarks, notes, AI, and memory management.

Finally, designing an intuitive UI for such a diverse and rich dataset pushed us to find a balance between simplicity and powerful functionality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We built a system that can handle mixed media from Telegram, Instagram, and more—automatically summarizing and classifying it.
  • We made it easy to search across different types of content with semantic meaning, not just keywords.
  • We created a smooth, no-fuss Telegram experience that turns a messy chat history into structured, searchable memory.

What we learned

  • Building smart features is one thing—making them fast, scalable, and affordable is a whole other challenge.
  • Users want tools that work without asking them to change habits—integrating with Telegram was key.
  • A little clustering and summarization go a long way in helping people rediscover what they’ve saved.

What's next for Forget Me Not

  • We're adding bots for more messengers like WhatsApp
  • Apps for Android and iOS
  • Browser extensions for Desktop
  • Support for TikTok and other media platforms
  • We’re focused on launching with a sustainable monetization model that keeps it free for casual users and affordable for power users.

Forget Me Not is becoming the memory inbox we wish we had years ago—organized, intelligent, and always at your fingertips.
