Inspiration
As a solopreneur and freelancer, I was drowning in admin work. I was constantly switching between Notion, Stripe, Gmail, Calendly, Canva, and spreadsheets just to run my business. I thought: “What if I could describe my business once in plain English and an AI would instantly build my entire back office?” That spark became Forgefly — an AI-first Business Operating System for freelancers.
What it does
Forgefly lets solopreneurs describe their business in natural language once, and the AI instantly builds their complete back office:
Service packages with pricing Client CRM Projects with Kanban board Professional proposals & contracts Invoices with Stripe payments Predictive cashflow simulator Contextual AI Co-pilot Secure client portals via magic links
It turns chaotic freelance life into one beautiful, streamlined business OS.
How we built it
The entire application was built using MeDo through natural language conversations. I used:
Frontend: React + TypeScript + Vite + Tailwind CSS (premium dark navy/emerald/gold design) Backend: Supabase (Auth, PostgreSQL, RLS, Edge Functions) Payments: Stripe Checkout + Webhooks Emails: Resend with branded templates AI: OpenAI GPT-4o for the contextual Co-pilot PWA: Full installable app support
Everything from onboarding to Stripe integration was created iteratively with MeDo.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting Supabase Edge Functions with Stripe webhooks and Resend emails Making the AI Co-pilot truly contextual across different pages Implementing secure magic-link client portals Debugging environment variables and deployment issues between local, Supabase, and Vercel Ensuring everything remained beautiful and responsive on mobile
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Fully functional conversational onboarding that actually generates real data Working Stripe payments + Agency Mode upgrade flow Secure client portals with magic links Beautiful, consistent premium UI throughout A working PWA that can be installed like a native app Built the majority of a production-grade SaaS in under two weeks using MeDo
What we learned
The power of natural language development with tools like MeDo — you can move incredibly fast How important proper backend architecture (Edge Functions + RLS) is for SaaS products The value of great design even in a hackathon project That building a real product with payments and user flows is much more complex (and rewarding) than just CRUD
What's next for Forgefly
Advanced AI proposal/contract generation with e-signatures Team collaboration in Agency Mode Better client communication tools inside the portal More automation workflows Public template marketplace for different freelance niches
