Inspiration
Last year December, the two of us were planning to go on a trip to Malaysia. So, we went to exchange our Singapore dollars (SGD) for Malaysian ringgit (MYR) a week before our departure date. However, the very next day, we found out that 1 SGD can trade for much more MYR, and we regretted exchanging our money. What if we could know the exchange rates for 7 days in advance, so that we can make better decision regarding when to exchange currency? Thus, the idea of ForexTeller is born: to help consumers make better decision regarding when to exchange currency.
What it does
ForexTeller is a web application that provides a 7-day daily forecast for currency pairs that consist of Singapore dollar (SGD) against the most significant international and regional currencies that would be relevant to residents in Singapore (US dollar (USD), Chinese renminbi (CNH), Japanese yen (JPY), Malaysian ringgit (MYR), Thai baht (THB), and Indonesian rupiah (IDR)).
Feature #1: Daily exchange rates forecast for the upcoming 7 days (Using ARMA Model)
Feature #2: Sentiment classification for each currency pair based on textual analytics of Twitter tweets.
