Inspiration

Every day workers at power plants and industrial facilities face dangers that're hard to predict.. Sometimes the biggest danger is not knowing that the danger is there. Important safety observations can be lost between shifts weather can change without warning and important information is often spread out in places.

We asked ourselves: What if workers could see dangers before they met them?

That is why we created ForeSite, a workplace safety platform. It is made to take scattered information and turn it into warnings that can save lives.

What it does

ForeSite uses intelligence real-time data from the environment predictions about risks and reports from workers to find possible dangers at work.

Our main features are:

• AI Hazard Detection: Looks at photos to find dangers at work.
• Predictive Risk Assessment: Uses the weather and other conditions to predict risks that might happen.
• Crew Memory Map: Keeps track of reports about dangers, photos, times and updates about fixing the problems across shifts.
• Interactive Safety Dashboard: Shows dangers the conditions of the site and risk details in a visual way.
• Risk Explanations: Helps workers understand why some situations could be dangerous.

Our goal is simple: make sure important information gets to workers before they face a danger.

How we built it

We split the work into parts like the design for the end the systems for the back end adding artificial intelligence and managing data.

We also added information about the environment and artificial intelligence to help find dangers and predict risks.

During the building process we made sure complicated safety information was easy to use and simple to understand.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was putting together sources of information into one system that works well and is easy to use.

Handling reports that have locations, pictures, times and records of fixing problems needed planning in the back end.

Making sure the system is both powerful and easy to use while working on a schedule in a hackathon was also a big challenge for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We made a map-based tool for showing dangers at work. Built the back end to check save, get and update reports from workers.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to build the end use artificial intelligence work with location-based data and do predictions.

Importantly we found out that technology makes safety better only when the information is easy to get, easy to understand and easy to use.

What's next for ForeSite

We want to make predictions more accurate add ways for the AI to find dangers and take ForeSite to other industries that have a lot of risks.

Our goal is to make safety at work something that happens before a problem happens not after.

Because safety, at work should not depend on what one person knows. It should depend on what every person deserves to know.
