Inspiration

One of the hardest parts of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is finding new and exciting things to do to remain active. We wanted to build something that encouraged follow a healthy lifestyle by providing users with a variety of activities to perform.

What it does

You will know about the temperature and weather of the location you're searching for, as well as the many sports you can partake in that certain environment.

How we built it

The user inputs their location which then is searched within the OpenWeatherMap API. The data is then stored within variables that are displayed on the front end page. Using the data for temperature, the website displays certain sports that the user can play given the weather at the given time. We used GitHub pages to host our website.

Challenges we ran into

One thing that was truly challenging for us was maintaining a good working schedule. It is important to make sure that we all work together, but finding time between the multiple sessions turned out to be difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we managed to use an API and create a working website. For most of our group, this is their first-ever time working to make the website and it was a great success!

What we learned

From a group perspective, we learned how to collaborate and communicate well to share our ideas and conduct our code effectively. From a hacking perspective, we learned how to use and implement API.

What's next for Forecastify

Currently, Forecastify is limited to the date and time the user is using it at. In the future, we would like to expand the project so that it could perform its function for any given date and time.
