Inspiration
We got our inspiration for ForDa Hub from our knowledge of bioinformatics. It is extremely important in bioinformatics to have access to a wide range of credible data. Additionally, in an increasingly technological world, it is important that people can access and keep up to date with data. We developed ForDa Hub with a goal to provide a space where users can collaborate and share information with others in their field.
What it does
ForDa Hub is an easily accessible data-sharing network that can let anyone contribute to huge datasets without having to start from scratch. The website will be free for everyone. By letting anyone around the world contribute, users will be able to receive a wider range of data that can help with machine learning and data science applications. A common machine learning issue is not having a wide enough range of data, and ForDa Hub solves that issue. By making data contributions available to everyone, people can contribute to a greater variety of data. Below are some of the features of our site. Posts: users can write posts for the gallery or within the topics. Datasets: users can upload images or numerical data. Individual datasets: uploaded information only the original owner can edit. Public datasets: all users can add data. Users will not be able to change or delete any existing data without approval from the data’s original owner. Forum: Users can discuss data and projects in the discussion forum.
How we built it
We first brainstormed and came up with the features of ForDa Hub. By creating a presentation, we were able to envision what we wanted ForDa Hub to be. From there, we used Qoom and HTML to start developing our website. It is currently a work-in-progress but has the general layout of our space.
Challenges we ran into
The first set of challenges came when we were deciding on an idea for our project. After comparing our ideas, we chose ForDa for practicality with our abilities. Additionally, we ran into many obstacles while creating the website. Though our website is not complete, we were able to resolve many issues that came with creating a site.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the idea we came up with as we believe it can be very beneficial for researchers, bioinformatics, and spreading knowledge to the public. Though our website is not complete, we were able to create many features with it.
What we learned
While creating our idea, we were able to learn more about research and bioinformatics. We learned how to apply HTML and how to work with Qoom.
What's next for ForDa Hub
Given that our website is not a complete project, in the future, the website can be completed and developed into an actual product.
