Our insparation: 146.1 million tons of MSW(municipal solid waste) were landfilled. Plastics accounted for over 18 percent, paper and paperboard made up about 12 percent, and rubber, leather and textiles comprised over 11 percent. Research conducted by the EPA (environmental protection agency), it is estimated 75 percent of the U.S. waste stream is recyclable. Sadly, only about 30 percent of this waste is actually recycled. recyclable waste. Using recycled materials to make new products reduces the need for virgin materials. This avoids greenhouse gas emissions that would result from extracting or mining virgin material. We want to help save our earth.
About our product: This minimum viable product is designed to inform users on whether an item is recyclable, should be composted, or should be put in landfill.This also identifies which bin to throw your trash away, providing a variety of options to help the user, while also maintaining a simple ui and a being a user friendly site.
Our Vision: Every time the user correctly recycles their waste they will be rewarded points which they can then use to help monazite. Once they reach a certain number of point it will help with reducing their utility bill by a certain amount.(this would mean that we would have to make an app that can be downloaded on your phone ). Scores can also be placed on a scoreboard displaying how environmentally friendly everyone is and setting up healthy competition between locals, while still benefiting the planet. As mentioned before the user will get points every time the correctly recycle waste using the website. They will then be able to display their score on whatever social media platform they like not only encouraging other to do the same but also helping upgrade their social status by displaying how environmentally friendly they are. People’s score can also be used towards their social credit for things like resumes when applying for a certain school or job. This social credit will help show how you are making the effort for a greater cause. A good citizen, who care for more than just ones comfort and time with be beneficial to the company or school or etc.
