Inspiration
The idea for For People was driven by everyday problems we see around us — excess food being wasted, people struggling to find help, and a lack of trust in donation systems. We wanted to build a platform that not only connects people but also ensures transparency and accountability in every act of help.
What it does
For People is a civic-tech platform that connects citizens, NGOs, and volunteers in one ecosystem. Users can donate money, share excess food, volunteer for deliveries, or request help. The platform ensures transparency through verified campaigns, real-time tracking, and secure payment systems, making community aid more efficient and trustworthy.
How we built it
We developed a responsive web platform using modern frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, and React with Tailwind/Bootstrap for UI. The backend handles user roles, verification, and data securely. We integrated APIs like Google Maps for location tracking and designed a modular architecture to support scalability and future enhancements.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring trust and preventing misuse of the platform. Designing a system for admin verification while keeping the user experience smooth was difficult. Integrating real-time location features and maintaining performance across devices also required careful optimization.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created a platform that brings together multiple types of users into one seamless system. The real-time donation tracking, role-based dashboards, and secure payment flow are key highlights. Most importantly, we built a solution that has real-world social impact and can genuinely help communities.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned the importance of user trust, accessibility, and clean system design. We improved our skills in frontend-backend integration, API usage, and building scalable architectures. We also understood how technology can be used meaningfully for social good.
What's next for For People
We plan to enhance the platform with features like blockchain-based donation tracking for full transparency, AI-driven recommendations, offline support for rural areas, and multi-language accessibility. Our goal is to scale For People into a nationwide solution that transforms how communities support each other
