Our team is well traveled. Three of us are international students, and the fourth recently returned from Northern Europe. We decided to pool our knowledge of foreign culture and etiquette to make a helpful resource for all travelers.
What it does
Fopaw is a resource for travelers to learn about cultural and etiquette differences in foreign companies. Most importantly, it helps people avoid rude and embarrassing faux pas abroad.
No one wants to offend their hosts in a foreign country, but it can be difficult to know what's polite and socially acceptable in a country you've never been to. Fopaw helps ease relations between countries, making us all better diplomats.
How we built it
Our designer made the base design in Adobe Illustrator, which was then turned into a functional website by our developers using HTML, CSS, bootstrap and Meteor.js.
Challenges we ran into
Adapting the visuals into CSS proved difficult at times, however we overcame the challenge.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of having a beautiful and cohesive design for Fopaw, in addition to having an elegant name that's descriptive of our service but still fun to say.
What we learned
We learned that Invision is a great way to create working prototypes for apps.
What's next for Fopaw
As of now, we only partially cover two countries, Germany and Egypt, as a proof of concept. By using crowdsourcing, our goal is to cover every country. In addition we would like to continue polishing the website.
