Inspiration

Our inspiration for this assignment was all the games that would incentive helping out others and games that incorporates the outside world to broaden the field of play. In addition, the rise of global harming in the current day helped inspire us to want to make something that pushes against the problem that is having a massive effect on today's world.

What it does

The FOOTprints app pings the first location that you are at in the beginning of your trip and after you finish your trip and select "stop tracking," the app will collect the distance and the mode of transport you did during trip and saves it for you to put into the FOOTprints website. The website is used to keep track of your past trips and gives you daily and weekly missions for you to try and achieve. In addition, the amount of meters you travel using a less carbon negative transportation, the more points you accumulate on the website. The goal is to push towards a less carbon footprint.

How we built it

The mobile was build by using Swift and SwiftUI to develop the frontend and backend of the mobile app. The website used html and css for frontend, while mostly using javascript for the backend of the calculations.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into the issue of being too ambitious with what we wanted to achieve and trying to learn new things in such a sort amount of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to complete both the website and app to a healthy degree without sacrificing one over the other. In addition, we are proud that we manage to finish our projrects.

What we learned

We learned not too be too ambitious and think of projects within reason. In addition, we learned to divide the work properly to get the project done.

What's next for FOOTprints

We want to try to make the website and app more interactive with the data being sent automatically and scoreboards that can be made between friends and family.
