What is FOODWARE

FOODWARE is a Food Distribution Company building FoodMart: A Peer-to-Peer Food Commodity Marketplace that leverages Blockchain to offer efficient and Sustainable Food Distribution Systems to Consumers.

Inspiration

We are inspired by the vision of bringing SDGs 2, 3, 8, 9, and 12 to the Food and Agriculture Sectors with Blockchain Technology and Sustainable Systems. Something we like to call FoodFi: Decentralized Protocols using Blockchain to Ensure Food Security for Everyday Humans. We hope to build a Self-Sustaining Ecosystem and Economy for Consumers, Vendors, Farmers, and Food Companies in Africa and beyond.

What it does

FoodMart is a Super App that allows Users and Vendors to:

  • Shop & Sell Groceries and Kitchenwares Peer-to-Peer with the help of an Escrow Contract - FoodMart
  • Learn from & Educate others through Video Content on Food and Agriculture and Earn for Contributing Videos (P2E) - Food Education
  • Crowd Buy & Bulk Sell Non-Perishable Food Products through a DAO-like Crowfund Contract and Logistics System - Foodwish Crowdfund
  • Enjoy a Light Speed Delivery System built on a DePIN Network of Riders & Courier Services - FoodSharp

How we built it

We Built FoodMart with the Concept of Stacking and connecting Tech Stacks via API Standards. FoodMart is a three Layered Platform, which includes the P2P Marketplace built with React.js, the Backend & Cluster built with Node.js, and the Smart Contracts built with Vyper and Solidity.

  • Layer One is for User Interface/Experience
  • Layer Two is for System Computations/Authentication
  • Layer Three is for Funds management/Escrow

Challenges we ran into

Challenges we encountered are:

  1. The Inaccessibility of Resources.
  2. Unavailability of Developers to Work on our Code Base.
  3. Unavailability of Funding (Grants/Seed Funding) to aid Product Development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Deploying our First Escrow Contract Version on Lisk L2 testnet.
  2. Revamping the idea from an Online Store to a P2P Marketplace and Rider DePIN Network.
  3. Registering the Project in Nigeria as a Private Company for Compliance and Transparency.

What we learned

We learnt a lot through our research which includes:

  1. Account Abstraction and paymasters
  2. Web3.js Library
  3. Token Economics and DePIN
  4. Opstack, Bedrock, and Appchains
  5. Many more

What's next for FOODWARE

  • Finish up P2PMarketplace UI
  • Deal with Cluster Bugs/Code
  • Create a Neater Version of Our Escrow Contract
  • Launch our testnet beta
