Inspiration

People don’t know what to cook despite having food at home. We bridge the gap between available ingredients and real cooking decisions.

What it does

Scan a receipt or fridge photo → AI builds your inventory → suggests recipes and optimizes your shopping list with price comparison.

How we built it

React Native + TypeScript frontend, OpenAI Vision API for structured product recognition, service-based architecture, cross-platform deployment.

Challenges we ran into

OCR accuracy for Argentine receipts, date parsing bugs, platform-specific image handling, and API cost optimization.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

95% product recognition accuracy, 2-second scan-to-inventory flow, $0.00015 per receipt, fully cross-platform app.

What we learned

Multimodal AI simplifies complex parsing, users prefer zero manual input, and price comparison drives real user value.

What's next for foodventory

Real-time supermarket price engine, brand recognition, expiration tracking, influencer dashboard, and premium monetization.
