To help reduce food waste we are helping to facilitate the distribution of food that would have otherwise been tossed in the trash by community businesses.

Inspiration

We were inspired by seeing a lot of food go to waste because of overproduction. We wanted to create a solution that would help prevent waste.

What it does

It gives people in need options for free food and helps lessen the amount of daily waste.

How we built it

We used a Django as a fullstack framework, implementing jinja2 templates for the frontend.

Challenges we ran into

Learning CSS on the go and trying new Django features were difficult challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing coherent HTML/CSS project, even as first time devs.

What we learned

Most of us learned how to use CSS.

What's next for FoodTree

Updating the UI, adding a feature for a qr code to replace the verification code, and a way to detail food allergies.
