Inspiration

Our project idea came from a classic weekend dilemma—trying to decide where to eat with friends. After endless Facebook Messenger polls and a barrage of back-and-forth messages, we realized there had to be a better way. That’s when we thought, why not create an app designed to simplify planning group hangouts for indecisive people like us?

What it does

Food Togetter is a one-stop solution for friends to coordinate and decide where to go and eat. It allows folks to invite their friends and make multiple groups of friends. It also allows a user to select their food preferences, price range and location. Based on this, it displays the preferred cuisine, price range and location among your group of friends.

How we built it

We used React-Native, Expo, tailwind, Google Maps API and Typescript.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges routing information among pages and determining preferred location.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning React Native and having a working demo on Android simulator.

What we learned

Neither of us were familiar with React Native so it was our first time using it.

What's next for FoodTogetter

Adding more functionality for selecting preferences and getting the preferred location to determine based on a user's location preferences.
