Inspiration

Even though there are several food drives, not everyone had access to them due to a lack of information and geographical difficulties. We decided to create a space where all information about food drives and donation spots can be accessed through one space.

What it does

It creates a space where people of all backgrounds have opportunities to create events(such as food drives), or request donations within the app and allow people from all over the world to access information.

How we built it

We used Figma to create a prototype for the app.

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out the ways in which we can connect local businesses to all people from lower-income areas to access food for discounted prices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create several interactive pages where users have the opportunity to create events for donating food, find local food rescue operations, and ensure food accessibility for all. We also decided to create a page for college students to use their meal swipes in order to allow people from lower-income backgrounds to find food as well.

What we learned

We learned that beyond creating the app, it's important to advertise it in a way so that both local vendors as well as those in need, can interact with one another to create daily events. In doing so, it would be important to partner with certain organizations are that willing to sponsor "Food rescue" events. Additionally, since a part of the app caters to college students, it would be essential to partner with universities that are willing for meal swipes to be interchanged for monetary value in different areas.

What's next for Untitled

The idea is based off of Facebook marketplace, a shared space where users from all different locations can create listings to sell furniture and clothes for "discounted" or "lower" prices. By developing the project further, we were hoping to partner with social media organizations to add a section of "foodspace" into their sites, so that more users have access to the platform.
