Foodsavvy

Inspiration

Our own personal experience and connection with Discord inspired us for this idea. We figured that creating a solution on such an already popular platform would allow us to reach as many people as possible.

What it does

Foodsavvy is a discord bot that, when called upon using commands ( !recipe, !foodtips, !nocap, !help), will provide users lots of valuable tips, information and ways to combat food insecurity. All while placing an emphasis on reducing food waste.

How we built it

We coded it using the coding language javascript.

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult to get started at first because we have never built a discord bot before. As with all coding there was a lot of editing to achieve the functions we desired.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Foodsavvy and attending ElleHacks! This was a fresh new experience for all of us and completing it is an accomplishment in itself.

What we learned

Through this process we taught ourselves the basics of creating a discord bot! We strengthened our group work as well, creating a coding project together.

What's next for Foodsavvy by JJE

We hope to polish up the existing functions and add even more commands. We would like to develop aspects to Foodsavvy that make it even more appealing to the younger generation. As well, marketing it, so more servers will learn about Foodsavvy!
