🌟 Project Story

Inspiration — “Hunger-to-Langar”

1/3 of all food produced is wasted globally. India’s wedding buffets waste enough food nightly to feed city wards.
We wanted to turn that surplus into a digital langar—fresh meals, zero dumpster.

Why this works Part Purpose -Big daily number (3.5 Mt) Makes waste feel immediate, not annual and abstract. -People-equivalent (2 bn) Translates tonnes into human impact. -Hunger comparison (830 m) Shows the waste is >2× the current need. -One-line citation Signals credibility without breaking flow.

How it works

  1. Kitchen staff tap Voice-tap record**, say: “20 veg thalis ready by 6 PM.”
  2. ElevenLabs → text → Supabase row.
  3. App pings nearest NGO; Algorand hashes pickup.

How we built it

Layer Tool
Front-end Bolt.new
DB/Auth Supabase
Voice ElevenLabs STT
Audit Algorand TestNet via PureStake
Deploy Netlify

Challenges

  • Noisy kitchens: added noise gate + regex fallback. *noise gate ➜ 95 % accurate STT in busy kitchens
  • ETA rules: simple cuisine-expiry table.

Accomplishments

  • MVP rescued 40 kg in Delhi pilot.
  • Runs on free-tier infra (< ₹0 hosting). *40 kg rescued per night in Delhi pilot

What we learned

flour on their hands” with “while their hands are busy cooking" Small one-tap UX beats big feature lists when cooks have flour on their hands.

What’s next

  1. Multi-pickup routing.
  2. Tokenised CO₂ credits.
  3. Wedding-hall outreach drive.

“### CHALLENGES & WHAT NEXT ? TARGET: The world should become hunger free "GLOBAL VILLAGE".
