Inspiration
What it does## Inspiration
We wanted to address an environment/sustainability issue, and we realized that not enough people are informed about food waste. For that reason, we were compelled to create an informational web page to educate people on this pressing issue.
What it does
FoodLuvr serves you as a one-stop shop for all the information you need to help combat the issue of food waste. The simple, intuitive UI allows users to not only learn about the issue of food waste, but to also take steps to do something about it on their own, at a micro AND macro level, up to you!
How we built it
We built our website using React and the Google Maps API.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into scoping challenges in that we wanted to add a greater level of interactivity, but due to the limited timing of the hackathon, we decided to prioritize the features to include in our MVP, which was primarily informational.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
While making the webapp, we all learned more about food waste, which is the project's main goal! We are also proud of our design!
What we learned
We learned more about the design elements of a website, and gained greater skills in React.
What's next for FoodLuvr
We want to expand upon our initial ideas for interactivity, where users can track their own food waste habits. This might include scanning your receipt and following up on those items on a regular basis based on user notifications. That means allowing users to form an account with FoodLuvr.
