- 2018 total food bank client visits: +914,000 → 14% increase from a decade ago
- Before the recession that began in 2008, we had never seen a year with more than 800,000 visits to food banks in Toronto. Since then, we have never seen a year with fewer than 870,000 visits
*** Are we having a shortage of food?
- Based on single family curbside waste audits, approximately 209 kg per single family household every year
- Edible food waste, including leftover and untouched food, makes up approximately 120 kg (57 per cent) of all food waste generated by a household per year
