Foodie : UVA Meal transfer program

Inspiration

Using the dining hall and other dining options available at UVA, we have encountered some situations where some students having difficulties using these options due to a shortage of flex dollars. Thus, we have came up with the idea of transferring either flex dollar or meal tickets to others easily without the presence of student ID or other tools so that people can enjoy their meal with friends.

What it does

The program enables transferring flex dollars or meal tickets to their friends simply by entering the receiver's computing ID. The program will enable their friends to access to dining hall and option freely.

How we built it

Using Python, which has delicate designing and programming functions, we have implemented various options, such as retrieving and accessing functions and created basic design structure.

Challenges we ran into

When we made a draft, we had difficulties creating a pop up window showing successful transaction. Thus, by debugging and making several test trials, we could implement code as we expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud to implement and create a program we actually wanted to have. We hope meal option transfer program to be implemented so that people can enjoy their meal with their friends.

What we learned

We learned our ideas and creativities can solve problem/ difficulties we encounter in our lives. It was also great to gain collaboration skills by working with peers.

What's next for Foodie : UVA Meal transfer program

We are trying to develop more program/ options, such as adding meal exchange program and adding program to add flex dollars easily through the mobile application.
