Inspiration

At college, it can be hard to find people to eat with. Everyone's got different schedules, activities, lifestyles...So we thought to provide a way that people could effortlessly and easily identify when friends are free.

What it does

Foodie is a discord bot that has two primary functions: add and find people. With add, friends can use a single message to add any schedule event in their day, which foodie will understand and store in a database. Then, by entering 'find people', Foodie will return all the people who are free at a given time that day. This makes it easy to know if somebody is definitely busy and unreachable, or whether you can hit them up and catch food with them!

How we built it

We used mongodb and discord's python library.

Challenges we ran into

Neither of us have really written much code before, much less a python bot. We didn't know anything about how to use databases or how to construct discord python bots. We struggled on starting and finishing many of the objectives.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Again, this was an entirely self-taught endeavor. We spent 70% of our time surfing tutorials, scavenging documentation, and devouring youtube videos to learn as much as we possible could.
