Inspiration
FoodBridge aims to reduce food waste by connecting food donors with NGOs and volunteers to deliver surplus food to people in need.
What it does
FoodBridge provides four portals: Donor, NGO, Volunteer, and Admin. It supports food donations, smart matching, delivery tracking, food-safety monitoring, and reporting.
How we built it
We used Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, and Drizzle ORM. Optional integrations include AI assistance with LangGraph and messaging automation through n8n.
Challenges we ran into
Managing food expiry, matching donations, allocating food fairly, coordinating volunteers, and maintaining security were our main challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We designed a complete donation workflow with weighted matching, partial allocation, delivery tracking, and food-safety controls.
What we learned
We learned about full-stack development, database management, secure authentication, workflow automation, and responsible AI integration.
What's next for FoodBridge
We plan to improve route planning, real-time tracking, AI assistance, analytics, and platform scalability.
