Inspiration

We wanted to help people in need find places where they could get food and the nutrients that they need to survive

What it does

When you open the website you will be greeted with a search box where you can enter your location, when you hit search you will be given a list of food banks, churches, and other food-based non-profits in the area, along with their phone number and address.

How I built it

We built the website using react.js

Challenges I ran into

the first challenge that we ran into was that half of our team didn't know how to code in javascript let alone use react. so we first had to do a crash course on javascript for those who didn't know it and we all did a review on react to get us started.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

we are all really proud that we were able to take time and make what we made we know that with a bit more time we probably could have refined the project more and used real-time dynamic data based on the area but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to get that far.

What I learned

-some team members learned javascript -some team members learned react.js -we all have a finer appreciation for teamwork and a better understanding of how important it is

What's next for FoodBank Search

If possible we would like to continue to develop a foodbank search and actually make it a tool that can be used in the real world to help people who need it. But at this time we need to gain more experience to make that happen
