Inspiration

As a member of several freshman student organizations, Mehraj saw how much food was wasted after organization events were hosted and way too much food was left over. "If only there was a way to tell people about all this left over food," Mehraj would think. That's what led us to Food4All.

What it does

Food4All is an app for Pace University students and student organizations to alert the pace community when there is leftover food from events or when students have leftover food in dorms that they want to give away. You can log in through email, Google, or your pace log in. You can create a profile, message other students, and set up your own listings for free food around campus.

How I built it

We built the project with Adobe Xd in order to model the functionality of a fully formed project without worrying about coding errors. The logo was made on Logomakr and several icons were downloaded from free sources online.

Challenges I ran into

We initially started off with three other ideas that were eventually scrapped for various reasons, so we lost time in the planning stages. None of us have ever used Adobe Xd before today and most of us were first time hackers.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud to have made a working prototype with minimal bumps in the design process and as few errors as possible.

What I learned

We learned how to work as a team and learn new software together. We're also proud to have made a functioning final product that can be expanded upon further if we decide to continue this project.

What's next for Food4All

Fodd4All in its final form would be a free resource for all Pace students and, if we ever choose to finish this app, we can continue to update it and maybe branch out to other campuses as well.
