Inspiration

We were inspired to create this solution through technology. Many people use their phones everyday, and by making an app, everyone could be able to have access to this solution. When everyone takes part in helping reduce food waste, the problem will be solved.

What it does

Food Waste Saver lets the user know when their food will expire by taking a picture of it on the app and writing down the expiration date. The app would then give a notification when a food will expire soon. The app also has options that gives the user different recipes and teaches them how to make compost.

How we built it

This app was made using Thunkable.

Challenges we ran into

We did not face any challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we made an app that will be able to help stop food waste. We are also glad to be able to bring awareness to the food waste problem, and make a video that shows our solution.

What we learned

We learned that food waste is a big problem around the world. We were aware about this problem in the past, but did not actually realize how serious it is. We also learned that there are local organizations that try to help with this problem. It is important to inform people about food waste.

What's next for Food Waste Saver

In the app, we plan to also add access to the local organizations that deal with food waste. We will also try to design the app more and add different functions.
