Project Food Waste Mangement System - BBMP is a universal free of cost platform to help connect organizations, NGOs, Orphanages, Volunteers, Donors for better management of tremendous food waste.
As a child, I often threw away fruits or any other food I did not like. However, as I grew older, I became more responsible and seeing so many other people waste food bothered me. So I began thinking: Is there any efficient way of managing all this food wastage that happens every day?
What it does
The main point of this website is to take excess food and give it to those is need. So, my website is divided into three parts for three different types of users: Donors, volunteers, and NGOs/Orphanages. Each user will go to their respective sections to fill out a form stating their needs. Users registering as volunteers will head over to the Donors and NGOs page to see the availability and requirements before they transport the excess food to NGOs. [Error handlings not covered]
How we built it
I used HTML, CSS and a little bit of JS to build this website.
Challenges we ran into
Somewhere along the way, I'd gone wrong in making the nav bar, so that took some time to fix.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the first time I've created a website in less than a day!
What we learned
Never give up even if you feel like dying when your code doesn't work after 2 hours of effort.
What's next for Food Waste Management System - BBMP:
Using Gmap APIs for live tracking and adding other location features.
Provide an interface for manure production.
User registration.
Bringing it to market with partnerships with companies and NGOs.
