Inspiration

Food Share was inspired by the dual challenges of food wastage in the hospitality industry and the struggle of orphanages to provide nutritious meals to those in need. The founders were driven by a shared vision of leveraging technology to create a platform that could facilitate the redistribution of surplus food to support vulnerable populations while promoting sustainability.

What it does

Food Share is an online platform that connects hotels, restaurants, and orphanages, enabling the donation of excess food from hospitality establishments to charitable organizations. Through real-time notifications and streamlined logistics, Food Share ensures that surplus food is rescued from wastage and delivered to those in need, thereby addressing both food insecurity and environmental concerns.

Challenges we ran into

Logistical Complexities: Coordinating food pickups and deliveries across various locations and schedules needed meticulous planning. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring adherence to food safety laws and liability issues demanded extensive legal research and consultation. User Adoption: Convincing hotels, restaurants, and orphanages to join and contribute to the platform necessitated effective communication and outreach strategies.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successful partnerships: Building partnerships with a diverse range of hotels, restaurants, and orphanages to create a robust network of food donors and recipients. Impactful donations: Facilitating the donation of thousands of pounds of surplus food, providing nutritious meals to countless individuals in need and significantly reducing food wastage. Positive feedback: Receiving positive feedback from both donors and recipients, affirming the platform's effectiveness in addressing food insecurity and fostering community engagement.
